Sonnet on Hope
Faith, hope, love, these three find solemn peace,
Within our strained beleaguered state of mind,
And though our trials never seem to cease,
With Christ our Savior earthly calm we find.
A trio such as these none could deny,
Their place within the Saint's quite ordered field,
And though all men would fight hard to rely,
On nature's hidden gems that She might wield.
At last the truth its olive face reveals,
Pearlescent beauty, halcyon repose,
Unerring purity like snow repeals,
All vices that do stain the yellow rose.
For this we seek that none do take away,
Our destiny in heaven on that day.
